Abstract

A number of topics dedicated to the unemployment and reduction of the working time is again in the focus of the economists and public discussion. Trade unions demand to improve the quality of life for their members and solve occupancy problems through reduction of the working time while leaving full wages unchanged. Can this problem be solved? The author of the article "Reduction of the working time to combat technologically induced redundancy" concludes that reduction of the working time while leaving full wages unchanged leads, in a better case, to the growth of employment provided that a number of definite requirements are satisfied.
