Abstract: This article discusses the role of the mission of Cyril and Methodius in the spread of Christianity in the region of Central, Southeast and Eastern Europe. Provides information known to science about the origin of the brother, their childhood and youth. The mission of Cyril and Methodius to Great Moravia is described in some detail. The relationship of the Roman Church to the new alphabet created by the Solun brothers is shown.The author describes the activities of Methodius, appointed bishop of Moravia and Pannonia.The author expressed his opinion on the significance of the mission of Cyril and Methodius. The article discusses the activities of the disciples of Cyril and Methodius. One of them is the creator of the Cyrillic alphabet. Based on the facts known to science, the history of the Cyril and Methodius tradition in European countries during the Middle Ages is traced.
