Ещё раз о причинах заключения Брестской церковной унии 1596 г.

Abstract

Статья посвящена рассмотрению причин, которые привели Киевскую митрополию к заключению унии с Римом. Приводятся сведения об административнотерриториальной структуре митрополии накануне унии, численности приходов, монастырей, духовенства, её правовом положении в Речи Посполитой. Раскрывается суть института патроната, регулировавшего положение православных церквей и монастырей. Называются кризисные явления в церковной жизни (низкий образовательный и интеллектуальный уровень духовенства, нехристианский образ жизни ряда его представителей и др.). Отмечается, что Русская Церковь столкнулась в тот период с вызовом протестантской Реформации, а некоторые верующие переходили в латинский обряд. Автор приходит к выводу, что к унии с Римом привели две главных причины. Это стремление православных епископов добиться равноправия Русской Церкви с церковью Католической и укрепить свою власть внутри церкви. = The article is devoted to the consideration of the reasons that led the Kiev Metropolis to the conclusion of the union with Rome. Information is provided about the administrativeterritorial structure of the metropolis on the eve of the union, the number of parishes, monasteries, clergy, its legal status in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. The essence of the institution of patronage, which regulated the position of Orthodox churches and monasteries, is revealed. Crisis phenomena in church life are named (low educational and intellectual level of the clergy, the non-Christian way of life of a number of their representatives, etc.). It is noted that the Russian Church faced the challenge of the Protestant Reformation at that time, and some believers switched to the Latin rite. The author concludes that there are two main reasons for the union with Rome. This is the desire of Orthodox bishops to achieve equality of the Russian Church with the Catholic Church and to strengthen their power within the Church.
